Lost Among The Six Seater Vehicles

Finally the long awaited day of my life had arrived! For the past two and a half years I was saving my salary to purchase a four wheel car for myself, one that could support six of us, that involves me and my five friends, for our holiday trips.

I shortlisted a couple of cars from the long list of 6 seater vehicles. My parents advised me to search for 6 seater cars, but majority of the so-called 6 seater cars out there could hardly accommodate the massive bulk of my three friends in the rear seat. So I ended up with two off-roaders that can readily fit six persons, and also our weekend accessories like tents, mountain bike etc.

The first on the list was Mahindra Thar, a classic jeep, with soft top that could be removed when necessary. The next one was a SUV called Sumo from the stables of Tata. I understand both of them belong to different groups, but their price tag forced me to shortlist them. The former came at a price tag of $12000 and the second at $13000, a huge gap of $1000.

Thar appeared more aggressive and was an extremely competent off-roader. Meanwhile Sumo looked more like a family man's vehicle and was not that good as Thar in off-roading. My mind was switched towards Thar, because I always had this passion for classic vehicles in me. I was puzzled between the two, my family was more inclined towards the Sumo and my love for jeep was burning inside me.

Then all of a sudden my Grandpa's face came into my mind, he was a great traveller and did travel from Leh to Kanyakumari, the entire length of India from North to South in his Royal Enfield. He always used to say "pursue what your mind wants, and you will never regret", and that shed light into my puzzled darkness.

I chose to go for the Mahindra Thar, and turned out customising it for another thousand dollars and now she looks more stunning than a Mercedes! The next week we headed straight to Mysore via Munnar and Ooty, and conquered all the highest points in South India. Now the 6 of us are preparing for a Himalayan trip, following the tracks left behind by my beloved Grandpa.
